Interviewer : I am here today with Sophia to discuss her film that recently came out. Can you please describe it for everyone?    Sophia: Ah yes...so the film is called Gunshot. It is a thriller that is about two students who find missing bodies in an abandoned building near their high school. However, they end up sucking themselves in while trying to find their friends.    Interviewer: That seems very interesting. I am looking forward to watching it!    Sophia: Thank you!   Interviewer: So, I have a couple of questions I would love to ask about the making of the film and what you think will come out of it. Do you think that will be alright?   Sophia: Of course.   Interviewer: First question is “How does your product use or challenge conventions and does it represent social groups or issues?”   Sophia: That’s a very interesting question! Just like any other thriller film, my film's opening scene is conventional, primarily showing the horror and thriller genre. I didn’t really cha

Gunshot: Final Task

Here is the final product of the opening sequence for my movie Gunshot. My partner and I worked really hard on it. I hope you enjoy!

Difficulties in the Production Process

Throughout the long process of filming and editing I come across a lot of hardships. From the start of filming, there were already a lot of difficulties. This included the search for a set to film at. There were many places that my partner and I wanted to film at, however most of them didn't allow it. The first option that was on the table was an abandoned house that was on the beach as this would be the most realistic. This ended up not being a good set because it was not there anymore. Then my friend offered her dads parking garage, but I did not think the scenery matched the story very well. Finally, the Galleria Mall was the final set and permission was granted to film in this place. Also, finding a place for the beginning of the opening sequence was very difficult as filming could not take place at the school I go to. Finally, deciding upon University of Miami, the drive was about 2 hours to even get to the set. I felt bad because I had to ask my dad to drive my partner and I

Updates After Film Review

Once completing the film review it was time to revise the final product. Overall everyone had thought it turned out pretty good. To make sure it turned out good, my partner and I decided to look at all the critiques that were pointed out. In total I interview four people. This included Cece, Taylor, and my parents. Once combining all the people that my partner and I interview (9 people), it seemed that a couple of revisions needed to be made. A critique that was pointed out by my mom and dad is the filter that was used for the film. They said that it did not help the film in any way at all and that it even made it look tacky and fake. My partner and I both had individuals that pointed this out, so the filter was changed. Once checking back with everyone, they still did not think the filter looked good. So after changing the filter a couple more times, the original color was used. Everyone said that this was a good idea. (12) Another thing that was changed was the 'creepy' music

Final Touches: Editing Blog

After all the clips were put together for the final opening sequence, it was time to move on to the next part of editing. This included the music, visual effects, sound, and the titles. I gave my opinion and suggestions while my partner was editing. The first idea that came into my mind was that instead of only using one song for the entire song, another one should be included. This is for the scene where I am chased by the villain and end up dead. In this scene I was thinking that a creepy song should be used for the diegetic sound. After searching on YouTube Aja and I found creepy royalty-free music. The next part that was worked on was the sound effects. This included foley effects. For example, footsteps were recorded for the scene where I was running in the beginning and ending. This was done with platform heeled boots and a concrete ground. It turned out very nicely. The next sound effect that was worked on was a gunshot sound. I suggested that this sound should be used because i

After all the filming, and editing was done, it was time to start the next step. The entire opening sequence was done. All the scenes were but in order and the music was added. Lastly, the titles were set to appear on the final product. The next part was to find someone to review the video to critique it. A couple of people were asked as I thought it would be a good idea to get multiple people's opinions on it. My partner and I both agreed to interview different people and the take all of their critiques and fix the opening sequence to be great. The first person I asked was my friend Cece. I asked her to first watch the entire opening sequence first and then after go through it slowly to say what she liked and didn't like. The first thing that she said could have used some improvement was the acting. However, this obviously could not be altered as it would need to be re-filmed. However, she did say that she enjoy is the setting at which some of the shots were taken place in. S

Putting Everything Together: Editing Blog

To start the editing process, first all the good shots needed to be picked out from the bad ones. Aja and I went through everything that was filmed and critiqued all of the shots. Once that was done, the best shots were gathered together. The software app iMovie was used to place all the videos in order. Although I did not physically participate in the editing process, I was the one who put in some input. I gave my opinion on how the shots should be put together and what type of sound effects were to be used. The first step in the editing process was to lay out the raw footage and the amount of time spent on each scene. I gave my opinion on speeding up some scenes because there was over 9 minutes of raw footage. One scene that I proposed should be sped up was the first scene. This was to create more tension. While, the last scene could be slowed down as the opening sequence comes to a conclusion. I also included that the seen where my partner pulls out of the driveway while leaving me
